Since the Devastator can hold out more than other close-up classes, you can safely wield the slower, deadlier weapons. Nothing is quite as effective as this, so make sure it is in your arsenal for every fight after you unlock it. Plus, it also causes bleeds, which you can stack with some weapon mods to deal extra damage. Or it can be used to kill an enemy (who may need to be weakened with your weapons first), which will give you and the rest of your party extra armor and health when they are in range. Interrupting will prevent elites from activating their abilities, which can be lifesaving even for tanks. Impale can not only interrupt a target, but also improve armor health and regeneration when used correctly, making it the most versatile ability in the Devastator’s game book. Because of this, it is not as effective or safe as the gravity jump. Instead, drop the most advanced group of enemies and then finish them with the rest of your arsenal.īoulderdash is much harder to control and can often leave you deep behind enemy lines and take damage from all angles. While it does damage, you don’t want to drop yourself behind enemies’ lines and be surrounded. You’ll want to use it once shooting starts to position yourself on the front line and right in front of the largest crowd of enemies you can see. Gravity Jump also has quite a long cooldown, but it’s the perfect tool to fight with. If you want to use this, make sure you have it Auto Reflect mod to give you the advantage and not allow your enemies to surround you. Reflect bullets isn’t a bad alternative, but it keeps you from moving or returning fire, which can make things worse rather than better. It is also very useful in conjunction with a slow firing weapon to give you the chance to take out enemies without getting hit yourself. It has a fairly long cool down period so you’ll have to learn exactly when to activate it, but it’s normally when an elite or large crowd turns their attention to you. It’s not hard to take the advantage of the Golem skill, which gives incredible damage control. If the damage is lethal, the enemy is impaled, creating a zone that gives a powerful bonus for armor and health restoration to all allies in range for 9 seconds. Impale: (seismic) Select a target to interrupt their abilities, inflict bleeding and deal damage. Gravity Jump: (kinetic) Jump into the air and hit your targets from above, dealing damage and interrupting enemies within a small radius of the area in which you land. Additionally, area of effect attacks can capture Devastators, so watch out for elite enemies throwing missiles or worse in your direction. While you don’t need it often, you should always have the option to take cover if things get a little too dangerous. You’ll also want to be wary if you don’t wade too deep behind enemy lines without the support of your teammates. You are at least effective when you are far from the battlefield, so make sure you know where the most intense part of the fight is and do what you can to stay as close to it as possible. Activating all of your abilities at once will likely get you back to full health, but it’s not as effective as spreading them between long cool-downs. Your skills are designed to keep you alive while you take damage, be it increasing your armor or your health, so you need to manage them properly to replenish yourself. Instead, do what you can to divert teammates’ attention and start removing enemies. Don’t worry about taking damage because you can tolerate it. Devastators must always be at the front of the battlefield and push their advantage straight down the line on the largest horde of enemies.
